Project Divyabal: Mindhail Announces Free Counselling Support for Persons with Disabilities
Event Date: 24 November 2024
Venue: Munjal Auditorium, New Delhi
Event: Saksham Divyang – Fundraiser for Rotary Divyang Kendra
On 24 November 2024, Mindhail had the opportunity to be part of Saksham Divyang, a special fundraising event organised by the Rotary Club of Delhi Central for the Rotary Divyang Kendra at Munjal Auditorium, New Delhi.
The event brought together approximately 400 guests, including Rotary members, donors, supporters and members of the community, around the shared cause of empowerment and inclusion for persons with disabilities.
An Evening of Inclusion and Inspiration
The event was graced by Sh. Murli Petkar as the Chief Guest and District Governor Rtn. Mahesh Trikha as the Guest of Honour.
Sh. Murli Petkar, whose extraordinary journey inspired the film Chandu Champion, added special significance to an event centred on resilience, inclusion and empowerment.
The programme featured several memorable performances, including songs by Benzy, an autistic singer, an impressive display by drummers, and inspiring wheelchair dance performances. Husnain, renowned wheelchair dancer and founder of We Are One (WAO), was also present at the event. His presence added to the spirit of inclusion and empowerment that defined the programme.
Major donors supporting the Rotary Divyang Kendra were also honoured with certificates and trophies in recognition of their contribution to the cause.
The Launch of Project Divyabal
During the event, Rtn. Md. Kashif Nazeer, Founder & CEO of Mindhail, announced Project Divyabal, an initiative aimed at making professional mental health support more accessible to persons with disabilities.
Under Project Divyabal, eligible persons with disabilities would be able to access free counselling sessions through Mindhail.
The initiative was based on a simple but important belief: inclusion should also include mental and emotional wellbeing. While accessibility and equal opportunities are essential, access to professional mental health support must also be part of a truly inclusive support system.
Project Divyabal was envisioned as an effort to reduce financial barriers and create access to professional counselling for persons with disabilities who may need support.
Support and Appreciation for Mindhail
The announcement of Project Divyabal received appreciation from District Governor Rtn. Mahesh Trikha, who recognised the importance of extending mental health support to persons with disabilities.
Sh. Murli Petkar also appreciated the initiative, making the launch particularly meaningful in the context of an event dedicated to empowerment and inclusion. The event also gave Rtn. Md. Kashif Nazeer the opportunity to personally meet him, making the occasion especially memorable.
Husnain also supported Mindhail and appreciated the organisation's work and the vision behind Project Divyabal. His encouragement was particularly meaningful, given his own work towards promoting inclusion, dignity and opportunities for persons with disabilities.
A Meaningful Platform for a New Initiative
Mindhail extends its sincere gratitude to the Rotary Club of Delhi Central and Rtn. Padmini Parameswaran, President of Rotary Club of Delhi Central, for providing the platform and time to announce Project Divyabal before such a distinguished audience.
A special note of thanks goes to Rtn. Dr. Harvinder Popli for his continued guidance and mentorship.
For Mindhail, the launch of Project Divyabal at Saksham Divyang was more than an event announcement. It marked the beginning of an effort to bring mental health more actively into conversations around disability inclusion.
Project Divyabal was built on a simple belief: true inclusion must include mental health.
